The length of your SR-22 filing depends on your state’s laws and the seriousness of the offense. Most drivers are required to maintain an SR-22 for at least three years. Under some circumstances, SR 22 insurance filings must last five years or longer.

If the court orders an SR-22, you’ll be notified during your hearing. If the SR-22 is state ordered, your DMV or insurance company will notify you. SR-22 insurance filings aren’t reserved for traffic violations and driving offenses; for example, failure to pay child support can also result in a court-ordered SR-22.
The General takes the guesswork out of filing your SR-22 insurance form. Our helpful insurance representatives will guide you through the SR‑22 process and answer any of your questions. We know the SR-22 laws for each state, and we’ll file your SR-22 accurately to meet your state’s requirements. In some states, we even file SR-22s electronically, often on the day you purchase a policy.
